Idea / Script Submission Release
Version 2026-10-10-draft
DRAFT. This document is a working draft. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and may change before submissions open.
In plain English
- We get many scripts and ideas and make our own films. We may already be working on, or later create, something similar to yours.
- Reading your work, or making something similar, does not mean we owe you anything.
- We only pay you if we both sign a written deal (an option, purchase or co-production agreement).
- We will not use your actual script or detailed original material without offering you a deal first.
- We recommend registering your work first: WGA West Registry ($20, or $10 for members) or the U.S. Copyright Office ($45 to $65).
1. What this covers
Any script, treatment, outline, pitch, logline, synopsis, idea, concept, character or title you submit through AIMoovieCreators (the "Submission").
2. Your promises
You are 18 or older, the Submission is your original work (or you have written permission from every co-writer), and it is not based on anyone else's property unless you have told us and attached permission.
3. No confidential relationship
We receive the Submission without any confidential, fiduciary or implied-contract relationship. Our reviewers, and the AI coverage tools named in our Privacy Policy, may read it.
4. Similar material
Ideas, themes, genres and general concepts are not owned by anyone. We, our creators and our tools develop many projects, and we may already have, or later develop or receive, material similar or identical to yours. Using material we developed independently, got from someone else, or that is public or commonly known creates no duty to you.
5. No payment without a signed deal
We are not obliged to pay, credit, review, return or produce anything. Any payment, credit or rights deal exists only if we both sign a separate written agreement.
6. If we want your material
If we want to use protectable, original material from your Submission, we will offer you a written deal first. If you believe we used it without a deal, you agree to tell us in writing and give us 60 days to answer and negotiate in good faith before any legal claim. [Lawyer: optional damages cap.]
7. Records
We keep a copy of the Submission and its coverage report for up to 7 years as a record of what we received and when.
8. Register your work
Registration gives you dated evidence of authorship: WGA West Registry, $20 for the public or $10 for members, valid 5 years (wgawregistry.org); U.S. Copyright Office online, $45 for one work by one author or $65 standard (copyright.gov). A bare idea cannot be registered; a written script or detailed treatment can.
9. General
Michigan law applies. This release works together with the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
